Hearing test with time-compressed speech for children

10 word groups with five different compression levels from 350 to 600 syllables per minute for children aged 5, 6 and 7. The sentences contain simple instructions for play actions which the children are to follow exactly. Older or very cooperative children can also repeat them, but the child's ability to reproduce speech is not what matters.  Norm values are available for children aged 5, 6 and 7.

Application: Testing auditory processing and perception, particularly where lesions of the primary auditory cortex, the brainstem or the nucleus reticularis are suspected.
