The Video Head Impulse Test (vHIT)

The Video Head Impulse Test (vHIT)

In four chapters this module covers the physiological principles of the head impulse test and how to perform the test in practice with video goggles. The course is device-independent; wherever controls or cleaning agents become specific, they are marked as examples taken from Merlin.

After the module you will be able to describe how a semicircular canal senses a head rotation and how the vestibulo-ocular reflex keeps the visual field stable; you will know the three test planes lateral, LARP and RALP; you will be able to prepare the test procedure and deliver the head impulses correctly; you will recognize artifacts and insufficient measurement quality; and you will know the contraindications, the hygiene requirements and the boundary between taking a measurement and making a medical diagnosis.

Important note: This training does not replace the instructions for use. The current instructions for use always apply; they are available online at hno.services in the knowledge base.
